Performing Pressure Testing

Instructions for pressure testing on pipe systems. Required after new installation or repair to verify tightness.

  • New installation completed — tightness unknown
  • Repair performed — inspection required
  • Recurring inspection as per regulations
  • Customer reports pressure loss
  • Required after new installation (DIN EN 806-4)
  • Required after repair
  • Regular inspection requirement for gas installations (TRGI)
  • Proof for client/insurance
  1. 1Fill and vent system completely
  2. 2Build up test pressure (1.5 times operating pressure)
  3. 3Hold pressure for 30 minutes
  4. 4Read manometer (max. 0.1 bar drop tolerable)
  5. 5Visually inspect all connections for moisture
  6. 6Create protocol and complete test report
  • If pressure drops: locate leak
  • Tighten GEBO clamp connector (¼ turn)
  • Replace seal if necessary
  • GEBO Unifix repair clamp for pipe damage
  • GeboLiquid for non-localizable micro-leaks
  • Always create and retain test protocol
  • For drinking water: test according to DIN EN 806-4
  • For gas: test according to TRGI (serviceability test)
  • Never exceed test pressure above nominal pressure rating of weakest component
  • Consider temperature influence (water expands)
