Leak Detection — Finding Leaks

Methods and techniques for leak detection in pipe systems. From simple visual inspection to professional equipment.

  • Damp walls or ceilings
  • Unexplained water consumption (water meter running)
  • Mold formation
  • Pressure drop in system
  • Noises in the line (hissing, dripping)
  • Corrosion
  • Frost damage
  • Material fatigue
  • Faulty installation
  • Mechanical damage
  • Overpressure
  1. 1Observe water meter with all taps closed
  2. 2Visual inspection of all accessible pipes
  3. 3Acoustic detection (stethoscope or geophone)
  4. 4Thermography (thermal image shows moisture)
  5. 5Tracer gas method for hard-to-reach pipes
  6. 6Add color or UV indicator to system
  • Local leak: GEBO Unifix repair clamp
  • Pipe burst: cut out damaged section and replace with GEBO clamp connectors
  • Threaded connection: reseal with hemp/Teflon and GEBO fitting
  • Micro-leak: seal from inside with GeboLiquid
  • For extensive corrosion: replace pipe completely
  • Regular visual inspection of all accessible pipes
  • Install water detectors in vulnerable areas
  • Install pressure reducer (prevents overpressure)
  • Frost protection for vulnerable pipes
  • Ensure accessibility of all connections
