Old Building before 1970

before 1970

Buildings before 1970 often have lead pipes (drinking water), galvanized steel, cast iron drainage. Lead pipes MUST be replaced. Mixed installations and outdated standards are to be expected.

  • Lead pipes — health hazard
  • Advanced corrosion on steel pipes
  • Clogged cross-sections (lime deposits)
  • Leaking socket connections (cast iron)
  • Outdated threaded connections
  • No standard-compliant grounding
  • Always replace lead pipes completely — never repair
  • For galvanized steel: check cross-section (often clogged)
  • GEBO Unifix repair clamps for quick cast iron repair
  • Transition from old pipe to new installation with GEBO clamp connectors
  • Asbestos-containing materials must only be removed by specialist companies
