Galvanized steel

DIN EN 10255

Galvanized steel pipe is the most commonly used pipe in domestic installations. The zinc coating protects the steel pipe from corrosion and makes it particularly durable. It is manufactured according to DIN EN 10255 and is approved for drinking water, gas, compressed air, and heating oil.

Black steel (boiler tube)

DIN EN 10220 Reihe 2

Black steel pipe (boiler tube) is ungalvanized steel pipe mainly used in heating systems and for oil lines. It is manufactured according to DIN EN 10220 series 2+3 and is not suitable for drinking water.

Copper

DIN EN 1057

Copper pipe is a high-quality installation material with excellent corrosion resistance. It is manufactured according to DIN EN 1057 and is available in hard (R290) and soft (R220) versions. Copper has natural antibacterial properties.

PE (Polyethylene)

DIN 8074

PE pipes are lightweight, flexible plastic pipes made of polyethylene. They are used in the variants PE 80 and PE 100 and are particularly popular for underground installation of water and gas lines. PE-Xa is a cross-linked variant for higher loads.

PP (Polypropylene)

DIN 8077

PP pipes are plastic pipes made of polypropylene, mainly used in building services and for wastewater lines. They are characterized by high chemical resistance and easy processing.

Multilayer composite pipe

DIN 16836

Multilayer composite pipes consist of an aluminum core pipe coated inside and outside with plastic (PE-X or PE-RT). They combine the advantages of plastic and metal: dimensionally stable, flexible, and oxygen-tight.

Cast iron

DIN EN 877

Cast iron pipes are extremely robust pipes mainly found in older buildings and for wastewater lines. Ductile cast iron (GGG) is also used for drinking water and gas lines in the supply network.

Stainless steel

DIN EN 10312

Stainless steel pipes offer the highest corrosion resistance and hygiene. They are used in the food industry, medical technology, and for demanding drinking water installations. Typical alloys are V2A (1.4301) and V4A (1.4401/1.4571).

Lead pipes (old buildings)

TrinkwV §17

Lead pipes were a common material for drinking water lines until approximately 1970. They pose a significant health hazard (lead in drinking water) and must be replaced according to the Drinking Water Ordinance (TrinkwV). Lead pipes can be identified by their dark gray color and soft surface — a fingernail leaves a visible mark.

Asbestos cement (Eternit)

TRGS 519

Asbestos cement pipes were widely used in water and wastewater supply from the 1930s to the 1990s. They contain hazardous asbestos fibers. Removal must be carried out by a specialist company according to TRGS 519. DO NOT cut, drill, or grind!

Stoneware

DIN EN 295

Stoneware is a ceramic pipe material for wastewater disposal. It is extremely durable (100+ years) and is frequently used in older buildings and municipal sewage systems. The surface is brown to reddish and glazed.

Flexible corrugated pipe (stainless steel/plastic)

DVGW VP 305

Flexible corrugated pipes are made of stainless steel or PE and are used in modern renovation (tight spaces), solar connections, and gas connections. They are very flexible and can be easily routed around obstacles.

GRP (Glass fiber reinforced plastic)

DIN EN 1796

GRP pipes (glass fiber reinforced plastic) are used in industry and municipal supply. They are very lightweight, completely corrosion-free, and suitable for high pressures. Typical applications are the chemical industry, water supply, and wastewater treatment.
